Efectos de la técnica osteopática de descompresión esfenobasilar en el dolor y la movilidad del raquis suboccipital en pacientes con cervicalgia

Resumen

La cervicalgia es una patología musculoesquelética altamente frecuente que afecta al 50% de la sociedad moderna. Entre los abordajes terapéuticos manuales, ninguno es claramente superior en el corto y en el largo plazo. Por lo tanto, es necesario el desarrollo de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas para abordar esta problemática El objetivo de esta investigación es verificar si una sola aplicación de la técnica osteopática de descompresión esfenobasilar produce cambios en el rango de movimiento del raquis suboccipital y en el umbral de dolor en los puntos gatillo de los músculos suboccipitales. Para esto, 69 sujetos de ambos sexos con cervicalgia, de entre 14 y 40 años, participaron de un estudio clínico controlado aleatorizado doble ciego, siendo divididos en tres grupos: A, B y de control. El grupo control recibió tratamiento placebo, y los grupos A y B fueron tratados con la técnica de descompresión esfenobasilar. El umbral de dolor en los puntos gatillo de los músculos suboccipitales y la movilidad cervical fueron evaluados con algometría y goniometría respectivamente, pre y post intervención. La medición fue realizada 10 minutos después de la intervención por un evaluador y la presión de palpación fue monitoreada con un sensor digital. Para el análisis estadístico descriptivo y comparativo de la muestra se utilizó el programa SPSS 20. Se obtuvieron valores estadísticamente significativos para el grupo A, implicando mejora en la extensión suboccipital, igualmente para el B en flexión cervical. No hubo cambios significativos para el umbral de dolor en ninguno de los dos grupos.
