Effect on tibiotalar joint dorsiflexion of the thrust technique in post ankle sprains in rugby players
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze comparatively between two groups, the efficacy of thrust manipulation of the tibiotalar joint in the subacute and chronic treatment of grade 1 and 2 ankle sprains. Thrust manipulation increases the range of motion of the ankle joint in flexion and extension. It consists of a clinical trial with a control group, evaluations were made with goniometry pre and post treatment of both groups, 30 rugby players who suffered ankle sprains in the last 3 months were included. The efficacy of the technique of thrust of the tibiotalar joint in post ankle sprains is demonstrated in terms of the increase of the joint range assessed pre versus post application of the same, with respect to the dorsiflexion of the joint. This data is of notable importance given the simplicity of the technique and the number of ankle sprains that occur in sports.References
