Osteopathy in a Polivalent Hospital
Abstract
An osteopathy section was created at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires in 2008 and currently provides more than 3000 annual services. We carried out a retrospective evaluation of 447 patients to find out the reasons for consultation and we studied the evolution of lumbar and cervical pain after 5 sessions. The patients were studied by means of the degree of pain between the first and the last session and two specific functional scales after osteopathic diagnosis. A total of 53.24% of the patients reported vertebral pain and 22.6% were male, showing a clear prevalence of female patients. We found improvements with statistically significant differences in pain and specific functional scales after osteopathic treatment. This work is the first to be carried out in South America in a multipurpose hospital with the creation of an osteopathy section included in a Rehabilitation Service.References
