Decrease of shoulder pain in volleyball players after Diaphragm Myofascial Anchoring
Abstract
A clinical trial was carried out among volleyball players, which revealed a 40% incidence of right shoulder injuries. This encouraged the interest in searching for a technique to reduce the acute state in which the players find themselves and to offer them preventive exercises so that they do not reoccur. The objective was to analyze the influence of thoracic flexibility on pain and shoulder range of motion. The shoulder range of motion of each one was measured through the FMS (Functional Movement System) Technique, and pain through the EVA. Then the diaphragm anchor technique was applied and finally both mobility and pain were retested. The study included 65 female volleyball players between 16 and 25 years of age. After performing the anchorage technique and retesting each player, a total of 53,84% of players had increased range of motion and 46,16% had the same range of motion. Meanwhile, with respect to pain, there was a significant decrease in the 25 players evaluated.
