Abstract

Football is one of the sports with the highest injury rates and most of these injuries occur through non-contact mechanisms. This is why it is considered necessary to conduct research to try to improve the quality of movement of players and design evaluation and treatment programs to achieve these improvements. The main thing for physical activity and sport is to ensure a good structure, so that the functional part is affected as little as possible. For this it is essential to have an optimal range of motion (ROM) in all joints, in this work we are going to focus on the ankle ROM (dorsiflexion). The aim of the study was to demonstrate and quantify, from goniometry and Lounge test, the effectiveness of manual therapies in the movement of ankle dorsiflexion in professional football players. To carry out this research, a clinical trial design was adopted, carried out on 12 randomly selected football players with no associated pathology. The range of motion of ankle dorsiflexion in active loading and unloading was measured. For this purpose, a cellular goniometer (Angle Meter), Lunge test and visual estimation were used as instruments. A measurement was performed following the same assessment sequence by 3 kinesiologists of the service. The methodology was developed as follows: Lunge test/ Active mobility (photo)/ goniometry/ manipulation/ goniometry/ active mobility/ Lunge test. The manipulation chosen was Tibio-Astragaline decompression in dorsal decubitus and ventral decubitus. Measurements were taken before training to avoid possible post-exertional muscle shortening [1].
